I requested information from Clemson, because I really want to go. Recently, I received a letter:
"We have received your preliminary application, and in September, your year, we will send a formal request. Until then, everything you need to do is take the SAT / ACT and send it directly to us."
Does this mean that they are interested in?

Absolutely not. Those who do not know, but what are your powers. That is, they want to advertise you and the rest of the world. The largest number of children, the higher class, selectivity and ranking among the schools in general refuse.
After taking the PSAT mails from all types of schools. This is the same thing - an attempt to reach the widest application. All they know is the score of a child when to send these letters, it is only a piece of the puzzle.
